Jacques Villon 1920s Etchings with Aquatint After Works by Renoir and Matisse

A set of two circa 1928 etchings with aquatint on paper by listed French cubist artist and printmaker Jacques Villon (Gaston Duchamp, 1875 – 1963), both published by Chalcographie du Louvre. Featured is an etching after well-listed French Fauvist Henri Matisse (1869 – 1954) titled L’Espagnole depicting a woman wearing a mantilla comb and patterned shawl, resting contemplatively against a striped table and floral backdrop. Also featured is an etching after well-listed French Impressionist Auguste Renoir (1841 – 1919) titled La Loge depicting a man and woman in formal attire sitting in a theatre box. Both prints include artist and publisher information printed in plate to the lower margin. They are matted in off-white and presented under glass in silver tone metal frames with hanging wire mounted to the verso.
Condition
- slight discoloration and foxing to paper with age; minor edge wear to frames.
