Chinese Export Armorial Porcelain Warming Plates, Circa 1800

Item Details

A pair of Chinese Export armorial blue and white porcelain warming plates, circa 1800. These plates feature a blue rim with a diapered quatrefoil and spear pattern to a white background with shield motif to the center. The arms being for Thomas Snodgrass, of the East India Company, of Madras and Blackheath. Below is the motto ‘Beata Petamus Arva.’ One of the handles has an opening to accept hot water. The plates are unmarked.
