A mixed media portrait of a gentleman. This work, which uses pastels with watercolor and gouache on paper, depicts a grim-faced man with gray hair dressed in a suit and high-collared shirt. The figure is rendered in extremely careful detail over a flat gray ground. The portrait is presented, unsigned, under glass in an oval gold tone frame with foliate detailing and a wire for hanging.

- water stains at lower part of image; accretion and debris under glass; chipping and heavy wear to frame and verso.
