Vintage Japanese Moriage Dragonware Serveware
Item Details
An eight piece collection of Japanese moriage dragonware porcelain serveware. Moriage is a type of decoration created by applying designs in relief to the surface of a piece, much like piping frosting onto a cake. A popular design created with this method is a dragon or dragonware, which is featured here. These pieces show a winged, open mouthed white dragon on a matte grey and white ground with beaded detail to the rims. Included in this group is a teapot, two lidded sugar bowls, a teacup and four saucers. At least one of the pieces is marked to the base ‘Hand Painted CGN Nippon.’
