Reproduction Napoleonic Era Enameled Portraits
Item Details
A pair of reproduction portraits. Painted in enamel on a porcelain medallion is the infamous Emperor Napoleon in a much reproduce pose, originally painted by Jacques-Louis David. A satin covered board mat surrounds the medallion, under glass and housed in a gold painted, carved wooden frame. Empress Josephine is enamel on board and features an intricate hair design behind a fantastic tiara with matching earrings and pearl necklace above the signature Empire dress with elaborate puffed sleeves. Josephine is housed in a small, round wooden frame upon a cardboard mat. The signed piece is presented in a carved, gold tone frame.
Condition
- Napoleon has tape to verso and flaking paint to front.
Dimensions
Measurement of largest in frame; medallion measures 2.50"W x 3.25"H.
- Smaller portrait measures 4.50"W x 6.50"H in frame; image measures 1.75" in diameter.
