Item Details
In Plate
An offset lithographic reproduction after the original 1891 color lithograph poster designed by famed French artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, titled Moulin Rouge: La Goulue. This image was originally created to advertise the nightly performances of famous French can-can dancer Louise Weber, who performed under the stage name La Goulue, or the Glutton, at the Parisian cabaret Moulin Rouge. The image depicts Weber dancing in the center of the composition, and the silhouetted man in the foreground is said to be Valentin le Désossé, or Valentin the Boneless, the stage name of La Goulue’s dancing partner, Jacques Renaudin. Artist signature is printed in plate to the lower left. The print is presented behind acrylic and framed in a gold tone decorative wooden frame.
