Assortment of Mark Coomer Serigraphs of Genre and City Scenes
Item Details
An assortment of five serigraphs on board of genre and city scenes, by listed artist Mark Coomer (1914-2004). This group includes simplified renderings of storefronts and city architecture, including title Bracken House. They are signed in plate to a lower corner. All prints remain unframed.
Born in Bay City, Michigan, Mark Coomer studied art in Chicago and Detroit before eventually settling in Arizona. He is known for his paintings and serigraphs, often depicting street patioscapes and urban city scenes. Coomer did almost all of his own printing, limiting his editions to 100. His preferred ground for his prints was masonite board, which combined with the permanent nature of his oil-based inks, were advertised as “washable”. Coomer exhibited his paintings and limited edition serigraphs nationally, and many can be found in private collections and institutions including the Chicago Art Institute; Challis Galleries, Laguna Beach, California; and The West and Walter-Bimson Western Art Collection housed at the University of Arizona Museum of Art.
