A lithograph on paper titled Gone Fishing by Aaron Bohrod (American, 1907-1992), executed ca. 1950. Depicted are two young boys walking with fish in their hands among a rural town landscape in an American Regionalist style. Signed to the lower right in graphite. Presented under glass with an off-white matting and a black painted wood frame.
Known for landscapes, surrealism, and trompe l’oeil painting, Bohrod studied at the Art Institute of Chicago in the 1925 then at the Art Students League in New York City in 1930-32. Influenced strongly by John Sloan and the West Side neighborhood of Chicago he grew up during the depression, Bohrod’s contain elements of social realism and American regionalism.
Condition
- print is loose in frame; discoloration to the paper throughout; scratches and marks to the frame.
