African Carved Wooden Mask

Item Details

An African carved wooden mask, attributed to the Biombe people of the Democratic Republic of Congo. This mask features a large forehead, a long nose, small ears, puffed cheeks, and a pointed chin. The area around the eyes, the nose, the lips, and the chin are colored black. The sides of the mask are fringed with dried grass.

- tape to verso; edge wear; accretions to surface; splitting to wood; fraying to grass.
