Antique German Commemorative Military Service Flask

Item Details

An antique German commemorative military service flask. This commemorative tin and painted porcelain flask was decorated on one side for Reservist Hornig who served and was released from his compulsory military service in 1895-98 in the 1st Squadron of the 5th Royal Bavarian Cavalry Regiment ‘Archduke Albrecht of Austria-Teschen’. The flask has a decorative German eagle finial on the top of the tin flask that screws off to serve as a shot cup. The flask originally had a twisted cord of red, black and white through the wire loops around the flask. In German this is referred to as a Parole Heimat or Homeward Bound piece.
