Item Details

A two volume leather bound set titled The Diamond Mines of South Africa by Gardner F. Williams, M.A. published by B.F. Buck & Company, New York 1905. Both volumes are fully bound in brown pebbled leather with elaborate gilt decoration and titles to the spines with arabesque medallions on the cover. The end papers are done in peacock blue marbling, the page ends are deckled and both books are profusely illustrated to include photographs, portraits, maps, diagrams and drawings. Notable are the photographs and drawings of the Zulu chiefs and tribes people and the Cape Dutch architecture in Cape Town, South Africa.

- overall condition is good
- some page edges are brittle
- slight wear at the spine hinge and bumped corners
