"Legends of the West" USPS Stamp Sheet With Misprint

A Legends of the West USPS mint postal stamp sheet with misprint. The collection features a full perforated sheet of 29 cent stamps with title design to the top. The bottom of the plastic sleeve is marked as follows, ‘This is a collectible item. This sheet contains an error in the image of Bill Pickett and is intended to be saved as a collection item rather than for use.’ The Bill Pickett stamp features an image of the famous cowboy’s younger brother Ben Pickett, a mistake by the artist recognized by the Pickett family upon release. The mistake stamps were recalled by the USPS, but in an unprecedented move, the USPS sold 150,000 copies of the sheets in a lottery in 1994.
