A hand-knotted signed Persian Mashhad room size rug. This hand-knotted wool rug features a color scheme of scarlet red, bright orange, periwinkle, navy blue, green, mustard and white. It has a large pointed scalloped medallion with two pendants on a scarlet colored field with lancet leaves and palmettes. The corner spandrels are grounded in navy blue with vivid orange lantern shaped medallions. The main border features alternating Shah Abbasi palmettes and it is bracketed by compound calyx and lobbed flower guard borders. It is signed at the edge of the rug in white. It has natural warp fringe to either end and it not marked.
