Item Details
A pair of large ceramic Chinese guardian lion figurines. The hand painted pieces depict a gendered pair, which traditionally represent the complementary powers of yin and yang. Here, the male holds his paw on a small ball, and the female places hers on the head of her cub. The lions are often used to guard public buildings, temples, and the homes of government officials. They are marked to the bottom ‘Hand Painted Made in China.’
