Panama Rainforest Wounaan Basket

A small Panama rainforest Wounaan basket. This basket was made by talented women artisans of the Wounaan by weaving fibers from leaves of native chunga and nahuala palms. The colors are extracted from the natural dyes of plants, bark, leaves and fruit. These baskets were known to be geometric and contain figurative motifs.
