Taylor, Tunnicliffe & Co. Biscuit Barrel with Silver Plate Lid

A late 19th century earthenware biscuit barrel by Taylor, Tunnicliffe & Co. (active c.1875 – 1898, Hanley, Staffordshire, England). This piece features a concave form to the earthenware body depicting a Dutch figural scene with a dark hued seascape in the background and a glazed finish. The barrel is topped with a silver plate lid featuring a pointed finial and handle. It is stamped, ‘E.P.N.S’ to the side of the lid and marked with the Taylor, Tunnicliffe & Co. crowned ‘TTC’ maker’s mark. The underside is also marked with the numbers ‘11420 W’.

Condition

- light surface wear to lid including tarnish.
