Mottahedeh Vista Alegre "Discovery" Pitcher and other Serveware

A collection of Mottahedeh and other porcelain serving pieces. Featured in this group is a pitcher decorated with a map of the world in blue on a white ground. To the front of the body, it reads, ‘Discovery consists of looking at what everybody else has seen and thinking what nobody else has thought’ It has blue geometric patterns to the rim, handle and foot and is marked to the base, ‘Mottahedeh Vista Alegre 1824 Portugal.’ Accompanying the pitcher is a small lidded bowl, also from Mottahedeh, with an Asian inspired floral design and berry finial, which also bears the Mottahedeh mark to the underside. Also included is a vintage Japanese Geisha Girl hot chocolate pot, decorated with polychrome enamels with traditional motifs with cobalt blue and gilt accents. It is marked to the base ‘Japan.’

- faint surface marks present throughout; green felt pads to base of lidded dish; adhesive residue present.
