Vintage “Marine Master Box” Navigational Kit

Item Details

A vintage “Marine Master Box”, with a number of navigational instruments for sailors, by T. Cooke & Sons of London. Includes a compass, miniature telescope, navigational scale with chart, two bubble levels, an alidade, and a clinometer. The instruments are in brass, and there is a brass plate to the lid of the wooden box.

Condition

- the instruments could not be systematically scientifically tested by EBTH
- compass does not turn
- discoloration and tarnish to brass instruments and lid plate
- minor wear to wood consistent with age and use
- one loose screw is included
