A hand-colored intaglio print on paper titled Le Départ by Jean Pierre Marie Jazet (1788-1871) after a piece by French painter Carle Verne (1758-1836). This piece depicts men mounting horses and preparing for a departure while others pack up from a picnic meal and herd hunting dogs. The artist and engraver’s names are printed to the lower corners, and the title is printed to the lower center. The print is presented behind a mat and glass in a wood frame that is wired to the verso for hanging.
Condition
- foxing and discoloration both present to image; slight warping to ground; moderate abrasion wear to frame.
