Lunt "Cortland" Sterling Silver Flatware Set

A large set of sterling silver flatware by Lunt Silversmiths. This is in the Cortland pattern, first introduced in 1921, which features flared handles with pointed shoulders and shaped tips. The set includes thirty-two salad forks, nineteen forks, eleven place spoons, seven soup spoons, nine fruit spoons, thirty-eight teaspoons, eighteen iced tea spoons, fifteen butter spreaders, sixteen cocktail forks, a master butter knife, five tablespoons, two sugar spoons, a marrow bone scoop, a mustard spoon, a pierced bon bon spoon, a ladle, a butter pick, and two pierced meat forks, all with Lunt maker’s marks. They are presented with fifteen dinner knives, nine luncheon knives, three carving forks, a carving knife, and a honing steel with stainless blades or tines and sterling handles. The set also comes with seventeen items in different patterns, including a set of thirteen bread & butter plates with cross mark, a casserole spoon, a sugar spoon, a cake server with stainless blade, and two dinner knives with stainless blades. All handles have personalized engravings. The group is presented in a Reed & Barton wooden flatware chest with Hagerty Silversmiths’ cloth interior lining. The total approximate weight, excluding items with stainless blades or tines, is 200.160 ozt.

Condition

- mild surface wear including marks, scratches, and minimal tarnishing; one teaspoon has major wear on bowl, and some rusting on carving forks’ tines; all handles have personalized engravings; flatware chest has surface wear and scratches to the exterior and one handle is loose.
