A mixed media sculpture titled Tyger, Tyger by Frank Kowing (American; 1944 – 2016), created in 2008. The work is a collage of several different materials including found items, wood, and metal wire. A gallery description is attached to the verso that includes the title and date. Accompanied by a descriptive catalog on the artist’s painting series Journey of Healing.

Frank Kowing is an outsider artist based in Maryland with a larger than life reputation, the bulk of his focus being mixed media works, many grand in scale and with three dimensional quality. He has participated in a vast array of group shows and exhibits since his first shows in the 1970s in New York City. His education, after service in Vietnam with the US Army, was extensive and included the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam, Netherlands and several fine art institutions in Pennsylvania.
