A mixed media sculpture of a figure by Frank Kowing (1944-2016). Depicted is an abstract sculpture of a full-bodied figure created with found objects including black shoes, branches, a mask, and rope. Please note that this item does not come with a certificate of authentication or provenance. A tag with the title and date of creation of the work is attached. Presented with a hanging wire to verso. Accompanied by a descriptive catalog on the artist’s painting series Journey of Healing.

Frank Kowing is an outsider artist based in Maryland with a larger than life reputation, the bulk of his focus being mixed media works, many grand in scale and with three dimensional quality. He has participated in a vast array of group shows and exhibits since his first shows in the 1970s in New York City. His education, after service in Vietnam with the US Army, was extensive and included the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam, Netherlands and several fine art institutions in Pennsylvania.
