A hand-knotted Persian wool area rug. The rug features a spring green field infilled with a symmetrical design of graceful arabesques and shah abbasi worked in shades of sky and Delft blue, cinnamon, taupe. ivory, buff, scarlet, and dove gray. The wide compound borders include narrow guard borders, herati borders, and a primary border of palmettes, vines, and flowers. Short natural cotton fringe to each end. Unmarked.
