An antique hand-colored engraving. This 19th century print depicts the hot-air balloon of famous British balloonist Charles George Green (1785 – 1870) and was printed by Johannes Keim in Germany. The balloon is striped in purple, blue and green and covered with writing and illustrations in white. Four passengers are ridiing in the gondola, two waving flags. The balloonist’s name is printed in the plate to the lower right, and the printmakers name is printed to the lower left. Presented behind a green mat with a purple liner, under glass in a dark wood frame. A wire hanger is present to the verso.
