Large Hand-Knotted Persian Hamadan Area Rug

A large Persian Hamadan area rug. This wool rug is hand-knotted in a palette of rose, sapphire, black, and ivory. It features a floral vase design beginning with an oval medallion over a rose-colored field. The field is populated with sprays of flowers, palmettes, lancet leaves, and vases. Spandrels are grounded in sapphire. Framing the field are seven borders, including a herati main border featuring flowers and palmettes over black. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with cotton ivory warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
