Edward T. Hurley Vintage Signed Aquatint Etching of the Ohio River
Item Details
By Hand
A 1920 aquatint etching by well-listed American printmaker and Rookwood pottery artist Edward Timothy Hurley (Cincinnati; 1869-1950). This print depicts two figures in a rowboat on the Ohio River. A barge is passing by and the hills of Mount Adams rise up in the distance. It is signed and dated in graphite to the lower right margin. Presented unframed in a plastic sleeve.
Hurley was born in Cincinnati and studied at Xavier University and The Cincinnati Art Academy under the tutelage of Frank Duveneck. Hurley joined the famed Rookwood Pottery in 1896, and his pottery and vellum plaques are avidly collected today. A prolific artist outside of his work at Rookwood, Hurley received praise for his printed work and bronze sculptural pieces.
