A hand colored etching titled The Erie Canal and the Little Falls on the River Mohawk published by J. & F. Tallis of Edinburgh and London. The piece depicts the untamed wilds of a forest while a storming river rushes towards the viewer. Encompassing the piece are three remarques; two with the titles ’A Clearing on the Banks of the Mohawk_ and Early Settlers Attacked by Indians with a third unnamed remarque at the very top. Marked in-plate to the lower print margin with the title and publication information. The print is presented double matted with a thin plastic layer covering the piece.
Condition
- Some wear around edges of mat; some toning on the mat as well; protective plastic is loose in mat; some discoloration present on print; foxing present on print.
