E. M. Washington Woodblock on Paper after Rockwell Kent

Item Details

A woodblock on paper titled Axman by E.M. Washington (American, b. 1962) based on the original WPA wood cut by well-listed artist Rockwell Kent (American, 1882-1971). The print is a facsimile of the original by Kent, although not exactly the same in many of the detailed areas. Depicted is a axman standing upon a blank gazing heavily at his day’s work. The work is signed illegibly to the lower left, titled to the center, and falsely dated ‘1934’ to the lower right. Washington is known for his ‘copied’ prints after famous works. The print is presented under a black matting.
