A hand carved Chinese guardian lion stone statue on wood base. The statue is hand painted in brown and iron-red overall, with gilt detailing, and presents the lion, in a recumbent position with mouth open in a snarl. The wood base was fabricated specifically for this statue as it fits and hugs the footprint perfectly. There is a wax seal affixed, along with some verbiage, proposing that the piece is over one hundred years old and stating it was approved to leave the Peoples Republic of China. Marked to the underside.

- some wear to finish consistent with age; slight chip on top of tail and head
