Tibetan Style Carved Wooden Tara Statue
Item Details
A Tibetan style carved wooden statue of Tara, the “mother of liberation” and Buddha of enlightened activity. This intricately carved statue depicts her in a seated pose, with her primary hands in the varada mudra, the gesture of generosity and charity, and the vitarka mudra, the gesture of discussion. She is depicted surrounded by lotus flowers and wearing an elaborate headdress. This work is marked to the underside and to the verso with handwritten inscriptions.
