1920's "Ribbon Dolls"

A selection of three ‘ribbon dolls’ from the 1920’s. In the 1920’s and ’30’s, ‘ribbon dolls’ were made using a paper doll base and decorated with ruffles of ribbon and lace to create large, ruffled skirts, bonnets, and bouquets. Included are two dolls facing right in green and pink ribbon skirts, and one facing left in a yellow skirt. All three carry floral arrangements made from ribbon and lace as well. They are mounted on black paper, presented behind glass, and framed.
Condition
- arm of pink ribbon doll is creased; toning and fading to paper portions of all dolls; all frames show signs of surface wear; frame of green ribbon doll is discolored; frame of peach ribbon doll is missing paint on bottom right edge; residue under glass.
