A large power-loomed Royal area rug. This Belgian-made Olefin rug features a Persian-style floral design in a palette of crimson, midnight blue, azure, and ivory. It begins with a large ogival medallion with deep pendants over a crimson lozenge, the lozenge resting on a narrow ivory field with azure spandrels. Each of these phases, from the medallion to the spandrels is filled with arabesqued palmettes, leaves, flowers, and vines. The field is framed by four borders, including a herati primary border featuring mother-and-daughter boteh amid lotus blooms and other flowers over midnight blue. Selvedges are serged. Ends finish with applied wool fringe, which has been partially shorn. The rug is labeled on the reverse.
