A finely hand-knotted wool and silk blend area rug. Attributed to Chinese weavers, this rug features a Savonnerie-style floral design in a palette of cranberry, cornsilk, gray, and sage. It begins with a large ogival medallion over a cranberry field populated with scrolling foliage and florals. Framing the field are wide, broken borders, which incorporate vases, flowers, and scrollwork. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with long ivory warp fringe. Unlabeled.
