A seven volume set of books containing The Works of Washington Irving, The Stuyvesant Edition published by G.P. Putnam’s Sons, New York, 1867. The books are leather bound with foliate decorated end papers.

From the Ex Collection of William Kavanaugh Doty (1886-1956)

William Kavanaugh Doty was born near Richmond, Kentucky in 1886. He attended several colleges, Transylvania, University of Virginia and William and Mary where he received his bachelor’s degree in 1912. He returned to the University of Virginia to receive his LL.B and his M.A. in 1913 and 1917 respectively. He taught English and History at various schools and finally settled in 1919 in Annapolis as a faculty member within the English Department at The United States Naval Academy where he remained until his retirement in 1947.

Condition

- pale foxing to the dedication pages and lightly throughout; small tears and rips to the corners of the books.
