Antique American Empire Four-Drawer Chest with Richmond, Kentucky Inscription

Item Details

An antique American Empire four-drawer chest with Richmond, Kentucky inscription, circa mid 19th century. The cherry- and mahogany-veneered case features a rectangular top above paneled sides and a dovetailed, frieze drawer with a convex front. The frieze drawer is outset over a stack of three dovetailed, long drawers and the fronts are fitted with turned knobs set against flamed, bookmatched veneers. Flanking the lower, cockbeaded drawers is a pair of half-turned, acorn pendants. The chest rises on ring-turned legs ending in ball feet and the back retains an old inscription reading ‘AML / Richmond / Ky’.
