Antique Country Sheraton Cherry Washstand, Circa Second Quarter 19th Century

An antique country Sheraton cherry washstand, circa second quarter of the 19th century. The frame features a rectangular top backed by a shaped, three-quarter gallery above a straight apron. The top is supported by four block- and ring-turned legs joined by a conforming, stretcher shelf with a single, dovetailed drawer. The drawer front is fitted with a brass knob and the washstand rises on cylindrical feet. It is unmarked by the maker.

Condition
- refinished; scattered shrinkage cracks, mostly on rear gallery and top of stretcher shelf; upper platform and stretcher shelf with stains and marks; legs with some chips/losses to edges of ring turnings; drawer secondary has mouse chew towards the back with associated losses; dovetails on left side of drawer missing but reinforced with nails (drawer is still sturdy); underside of drawer with pencil-drawn game board; knob with dings and tarnish; other scattered surface wear and expected imperfections.
