Antique Victorian Rococo Revival Walnut Side Chairs, Circa 1850-1875

Item Details

A group of four antique Victorian Rococo Revival walnut side chairs, circa 1850-1875. The frames feature balloon backs with rose-carved crests above horizontal, C-scrolled slats and padded seats. The seats are upholstered in faded red fabric with braided, gimp trim over bowed, floral-carved skirts. The chairs rise on floral-carved, cabriole front legs and raking back legs. They are unmarked by the maker.

Condition

- frames refinished with some light scratches and small nicks; a few scattered, small chips to floral carvings; upholstery is later and with fading and small stains; one chair with a higher concentration of scratches to right stile just above back slat; another chair with two repaired breaks to crest rail above stiles.
