Antique Japanese Satsuma Vase

Item Details

An antique Japanese Satsuma vase. The vase has a tall narrow neck and wider, rounded body. The vase is decorated throughout with a scene of a procession of men, some on foot and some riding horses. It has a crackled finish, and is painted in bright enameled colors and accented with gold luster. The vase likely dates from the late Meiji period (1868-1912). The underside is marked ‘Satsuma’ (薩摩).
