A pair of acrylic on canvas paintings by Indiana artist Alys Caviness-Gober (20/21st century) titled Brandi Carlile and Carnival. Brandi Carlile depicts the singer in black silhouette holding a guitar raised over her head against a streaked lavender and white background. Carnival is a non-objective abstract composition featuring a black circle and vertical lines and spatters of red, yellow and blue against a white background. The artist’s signature and title are written to the verso of each painting and dated 2013 and 2014, respectively. Each is mounted in a black wooden frame.
Alys Caviness-Gober is a self-taught Noblesville, Indiana artist, writer, and photographer. Caviness-Gober is known for her abstract expressionist style landscapes, figures, and floral compositions. She also taught college level Anthropology courses. Caviness-Gober was the 2017 recipient of the Indiana Arts Commission Individual Artists Program Grant. Her work is housed in several private collections and displayed in Indian galleries such as Logan Street Sanctuary, and Love’s Hangover Boutique to name a few. Currently Caviness-Gober is a juried member of the Hamilton County Artists’ Association.
