Hand-Knotted Joshegan Wool Runner Rug

Item Details

A hand-knotted Joshegan wool runner rug. The runner features a central medallion worked in shades of cochineal red, ivory, gray, black, and cadet blue with a stepped border design on a red field. The field is populated with a rectilinear pattern of stylized flowers and vines worked in the same palette, with the addition of coral. The multiple inner borders are sawtooth or stepped and abut a meander border with a red ground. The unresolved primary border has an ivory ground with stylized flowers, foliage, and palmettes. Short natural fringe to each end. Unmarked.
