An acrylic painting on canvas by Indiana artist Alys Caviness-Gober (20/21st century), titled Late Summer on The White River. This painting depicts a lush forest of dry-brushed flowers and full trees hanging over the central Indiana river. To the lower left corner of the composition is a painted artist signature, dated 2012. The painting is wrapped over a wooden stretcher with hanging wire and marker inscription denoting title, signature and date to the stretcher verso.
Alys Caviness-Gober is a self-taught Noblesville, Indiana artist, writer, and photographer. Caviness-Gober is known for her abstract expressionist style landscapes, figures, and floral compositions. She also taught college level Anthropology courses. Caviness-Gober was the 2017 recipient of the Indiana Arts Commission Individual Artists Program Grant. Her work is housed in several private collections and displayed in Indian galleries such as Logan Street Sanctuary, and Love’s Hangover Boutique to name a few. Currently Caviness-Gober is a juried member of the Hamilton County Artists’ Association.
