M. Fred Hirsch Co. and Other Weighted Sterling Silver Compotes
Item Details
A collection of three weighted sterling silver compotes. This includes a tall compote by M. Fred Hirsch Co. of Jersey City, NJ (active c.1920-1945), featuring a shallow well, patterned lip, tall stem, and a round base. It is presented with a short compote with gadroon and openwork accents by Empire Silver Co., Inc. of Brooklyn, NY (founded 1946) and a short compote with scalloped well by Dunkirk Silversmiths of Meriden, CT (active c.1945-1950). Each is marked to the underside for weighted silver fineness.
Condition
- good to fair; mild to moderate surface wear including small dents, marks, scratches, and tarnishing; major dents along base of MFH Co. compote.
