Wm. B. Kerr & Co. and Webster Company Sterling Handle Clothes Brushes
Item Details
A group of three vintage sterling handle clothes brushes. This selection includes two brushes by Wm. B. Kerr & Co. (active c.1880s – 1927, Newark, NJ): one brush features a chased scrolled foliage band, reel trim, and an engraved ‘MFC’ monogram, and the other features a hammered texture with a meander style band and personal engraving of ‘TJB’ in a diamond shape surrounded by a frame. These pieces are presented with a Webster Company comb-brush with an acanthus leaf and floral motif handle engraved, ‘ESR’. Each item is stamped with the individual maker’s mark alongside ‘Sterling’.
Condition
- surface wear including scratches and light tarnish; some wear and dislocation to bristles; all brushes have personal engravings.
