An acrylic painting on canvas board of a landscape by Indiana artist Alys Caviness-Gober (20/21st century). This painting depicts an abstract, textural layering of pastel and earthen tones to render a rushing river cutting through a rocky cliffside beneath a clear sky. The painting is presented in a white wooden frame with hanging wire and a handwritten inscription to the verso denoting date (2013) and artist signature.
Alys Caviness-Gober is a self-taught Noblesville, Indiana artist, writer, and photographer. Caviness-Gober is known for her abstract expressionist style landscapes, figures, and floral compositions. She also taught college level Anthropology courses. Caviness-Gober was the 2017 recipient of the Indiana Arts Commission Individual Artists Program Grant. Her work is housed in several private collections and displayed in Indian galleries such as Logan Street Sanctuary, and Love’s Hangover Boutique to name a few. Currently Caviness-Gober is a juried member of the Hamilton County Artists’ Association.
