A Nicholas & Stone and a Hitchcock windsor chairs. The Nicholas & Stone chair features arched crest rail above a curved back rail which wraps around to form scrolled armrests. The chair stands on splayed lathe-turned legs joined by turned spreaders. Marked on the bottom: ’ Nicholas & Stone’ with a crest. The Hitchcock Co chair features a arched crest rail with pears and flower motif above arrow spindles and resting on four splayed lathe-turned legs and an H stretcher. Marked on the seat back: ’ Hitchcock. Hitchcocks-ville. Conn. Warranted.’
