Hand-Knotted Persian Nain Room Size Rug

A fine vintage hand-knotted Persian Nain area rug. This finely knotted rug features a central pendant star medallion in scarlet, bright blue, indigo and mocha with a dense arabesque pattern in the field. The medallion is set in a frame of trefoil edging in blue on the ivory-colored field, with large decorative spandrels in the field colors. It has a wide primary border of delicate quatrefoil and split leaf forms, bound by matching floral guard borders. It has tightly finished overcast edges and very compact, cropped warp fringe to the ends. It is not signed or labeled.
