An acrylic painting on canvas by Indiana artist Alys Caviness-Gober (20/21st century), titled When I Dream I Dream of You. This painting depicts an large expanse of water bordered by rocky cliffsides rendered with a thick impasto. Overlaid on top of this landscape are interlocking circles in a gray and mint green, which crowd the composition. The painting is signed to the lower right corner and is wrapped over a wooden stretcher with hanging wire, as well as an ink signature and title to the verso.

Alys Caviness-Gober is a self-taught Noblesville, Indiana artist, writer, and photographer. Caviness-Gober is known for her abstract expressionist style landscapes, figures, and floral compositions. She also taught college level Anthropology courses. Caviness-Gober was the 2017 recipient of the Indiana Arts Commission Individual Artists Program Grant. Her work is housed in several private collections and displayed in Indian galleries such as Logan Street Sanctuary, and Love’s Hangover Boutique to name a few. Currently Caviness-Gober is a juried member of the Hamilton County Artists’ Association.
