A hand-knotted Persian wool area rug. The rug features a central pendant medallion worked on a garnet field in shades of ivory, black, carnation, wine, turquoise, dove, camel, and green. The field is infilled with large curving sprays of flowers and leaves in the same palette while the bright blue spandrels feature scrolled leaves and red and pink flowers. The guard borders include narrow carnation and meander designs while the primary border has an abrash blue/black background with flowers and stylized palmettes. Fringe at each end and overcast selvedges with label attached to reverse.
