Hand-Painted 18th to 19th Century Persian Ceramic Plate

A hand-painted 18th to 19th century Persian ceramic plate. This earthenware piece is decorated with a medley of blue, olive, and teal under a clear glaze. It is accented with a pair of two-legged aquiline creatures with elongated feathered necks and wide tails. The piece is finished with a hole to the top for hanging. The plate is inscribed and marked with two tags to the back, ‘Persia, XVI cent.’

Condition

- crazing throughout; areas of discoloration and wear to glaze; crack across center of underside; hole present for hanging.
