Item Details

A pair of 18th century sterling silver Peter and Ann Bateman master salts with cobalt blue glass liners and the appropriate London hallmarks dating them 1793 and 1798. Each of the oval, footed salts have delicately pierced borders with a beaded top edge and an engraved heraldic motto with cranes and an eagle over a ribbon stating in Latin ‘Invitum Sequitur Honor’ (‘Will Follow Honor’). The total weight for both salts not to include the glass liners is 2.920 ozt.
